Hey everyone. Is it possible to switch to a compleetly Russian WindowsXP?
Or do you need a special Russian version for that? I know that under for example MacOSX this is very easy to do but under XP I really have no idea 'cause I never tried it.

There is a russian edition of xp, but the lowest I have seen it is 425 dollars. Not really worth it in my opinion.
Here is a screen shot:

If I found it for a decent price (say maybe less than 100), Id buy it.
there is MUI (multilanguage user interface) pack for XP (it`s free AFAIK). It makes XP 99% Russian (and there is other languages, too). Look at M$ site...

How can I acquire Windows MUI?
The Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs such as the Microsoft Open License Program (MOLP / Open), Select, and Enterprise agreement (or with a new computer as an OEM version at customer request). It is not available through retail channels.
hmm....why they are hiding it, it`s just a language pack :-\
I recently bought a computer in Afghanistan and it came with XP Proffessional, and when I took it to Tashkent, we started to work in Russian, and all is included, even a text tranlator and on screen russian keyboard. We then just spent 13.USD to buy a russian keyboard in Tashkent, and we have a russian computer.
The lowest I've seen it is about 150 rubles. It looks like 1 ruble is about $3... :)Quote:

Well, of course where is a way to get pirated Rusian (Japanese, Chinese etc) localised verison, but, actualy, MUI is better in many cases. Because you can switch interface language "on the fly", have diffirent users with diffirent interfaces and so on.
Anyway, it`s easy to get it from e-donkey, some ftp servers and so on, I`m sure it was at microsoft site, too, like service pack1...2 and such stuff, may be they change they`s mind....
p.s. lowest legal software price I see was Warcraft-3, jewel box, for 5$
WC III isn't software. It's playware. :)Quote:

99,99999999% of Russian home users use pirated Windows, and I think, Bill Gates knows it. :D
P.S. I'm under Linux now ;)

I live not in Moscow. Do you have something else for me?
You can have a cow OR a bird. Which would you like?
I'd like both......the bird tastes better but the cow has more meat.
A flying cow. Like this one:Quote:

I have Russian Windows XP on my laptop. But that is because I bought the laptop in Russia, so that makes me 0.00000001% too... it was very useful in learning russian computer terms!
which are simply bad translations from EnglishQuote:
