    Going to petersburg in march!

Hey! I am off to Petersburg for my birthday in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone knew some fun things to do?

Also, does anyone know if there is any ice hockey being played there at this time of year, and if so, how easy is it to get a ticket?

Don't look like an Englishman in St. Petersburg.

They have black top-hats, with a cane made of gold and a jacket made of 1000-ruble notes.

Really though, fun things in petersburg....

See the Hermitage (Even if you don't like museums, its still pretty cool)
Stay out late to watch the bridges go up
Order champaign and orange juice, then mix them together (it freaks some people out)
DON"T go to strip clubs unless you want to hang out with asians and watch hentai while paying $10 for a beer
    Take a boat tour
Check out Nevsky prospect - lots of really fun and beautiful things to see, and also has a pretty active nightlife
*edit* Go to the opera / ballet

thats all I can think of for now...

Just make sure that when you stay out late, you have to stay out very late. Because of the nature of St. Pete, when the bridges go up at night it makes it very difficult to get around by car - so your pretty much stranded if you leave your "island". My solution - just party until 6am.

I WAS going to say watch the bridges go up, but I highly doubt that they open the bridges in the middle of march. *cough* *cough*

Who said you have to drink to stay out until 6am? Maybe he'll be out at a lan game or something drinking Jolt and playing CS.

Please don't come dressed as a pearly king - all britons in st pete i know dress like that (i dunno why). Don't shout obsenities in a horrible working class accent on the metro (cuss in a posh accent if you can). Don't try to smuggle in any marmite. Learn to pronounce your t's in words like 'bottle'. Pack a toothbrush or two - local toothbrushes aren't made for the fainthearted. Avoid marsh route cars like the plague.

If you really want to blend in, just buy a white linen suit. When I was in Russia, it seemed like all the rage. The linen along with pointy turkish shoes. Then you might blend in a little better

As for VM, I dunno why he thinks you should stay away from the marsh route cars - you always meet a lot of interesting people in those things.

Come to think of it, Androvsky - don't try to smuggle marmite out of the UK at all!!!! People in the neighbouring countries have feelings too!!!

Have a fantastic trip - I was going to do exactly the same - offer myself a trip to StP for my b'day...... but my work schedule didn't agree with me, and neither did my boss
So, make sure you have enough fun for both of us
Ой, голова у меня кружится |-P ...... and my brain hurts too....
