    TORFL

    Hi all,
I searched the forum and have not found any information on TORFL. Moreover, I have searched google and could not find anything besides a basic description of the tests. Does anyone have study guides? Has anyone taken the tests? I want to try to pass TORFL-1, or at least the elementary level. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jerrod

I think that if you want to teach Russian as a foreign language in schools in America (TORFL) you will have to obtain a Teaching License through a University. Otherwise you will be restricted to private lessons...... (But I must admit ignorance about requirements about teaching languages in other countries.........)

you will have to obtain a Teaching License
Will they really require such a license even when you're native?

Yes, I believe that you would still be required to have a Teaching License. All teachers in the public school system are required to be licensed. Native speakers of English (like my son) are required to have certified training and a license to teach English..........

I think that if one applies for this kind of job then one should have both language skills and teaching skills. That's why licence like this is needed.

No! He meant TORFL! TORFL 1 is recognized as the language admission requirement by Russian institutes of higher education. And it is hard to get any sample tests of TORFL as a study guide. That's why Jamie had no luck.

    Re: TORFL

Dear Jerrod, there are several centers of TORFL in Moscow and St Petersburg, better to check google once again. Or you may come to the Slavic Studies Center in Kiev, more info at echoee dot com. I wish you good luck with passing the exam!
