"More or less" is a really good expression which means "essentially", "quite", "on the whole". If somebody is "more or less" telling the truth, it means that on the whole what they said was true, although there might have been some detail that wasn't completely correct.
I just came across an expression in my Russian-Swedish textbook that might mean the same thing, but I can't be completely certain. Anyway, the expression is "в основном"
