Tech help...? (capture sound from lexicon at mail.ru)
Previously it used to be possible to download the recordings of words from the dictionary at mail.ru... But it's not working anymore.
I don't know what happened...
In the past I just hovered the mouse over the sound icon, and a little "download" link appeared. The recording could then be saved, and imported into my flashcards, in five seconds.. Convenient!
But this doesn't work anymore. I tried installing some flash downloader plugins, but all it downloads is a useless .swf file which does not seem to contain the sound.
Does anyone know what's going on? How can I download the recordings?
Example: http://multilex.mail.ru/view_dict?la...142&dict2=A145
class word, by the way!!! It sounds like "wig maker", not "hairdresser".

Did you try a SWF player?

There will be a .mp3 file somewhere in your browser's cache, so if you really need it, you can search for 10-something-kilobyte file among the latest ones...

You can also record any sound playing on your computer through "stereo mix input". If you are using Windows XP, open volume control in system tray and choose parameters->recording->stereo mix (on some sound cards it could be called "whatuhear"). Then open any sound recorder (standard windows recorder is in Start->accessories->entertainment->sound recorder), press "rec" then play any sound you want to record.
