The tall ship “Kruzenshtern” arrives at the Massachusetts Ma
Privet Gang,
I saw this online and wanted to share. This is about 20 miles from home / work. I don't know if I can get there, it's the busiest weekend of the year at the motel. Maybe Sunday I'll be able to take Alex and Ali ("my" 2 Russian kids that work at night with me) to see it before work. It got into a storm before getting into Charleston, South Carolina, and had some repairs done there.
Here is the story:

Some more from the local newspaper:
Tall ship blends tradition, technology
Alex Smyshlyev, 19, has ocean water in his blood. Both his father and grandfather were seamen and now, aboard the Russian training ship Kruzenshtern docked at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, he has begun his own career at sea. :good:

Ya know, having a 105, almost, 106 year old grandmother, I am always amazed when I think back to the things she has seen in her lifetime and how things have changed... could you imagine if the sailors back GPS 83 years ago?
BTW, Nana... has her own cell phone. I bought it for her for her 100th birthday (bright green)! Yet, she does not use the computer. Never could get her to go "online."
Re: The tall ship “Kruzenshtern” arrives at the Massachusetts Ma
I didn't get to the ship, a VERY busy Fourth of July weekend and I have to "be a boss" and show up and work when I don't want to. "My kids" were very good and understood why we had to work.
Maybe "Olgaa" from a few years ago here in the Russian Forums is in Boston this summer and will see the ship. She has not said hello in 2 months.
I sent a few people there, and told 2 men to say "Привет, матрос"/ "Hi, sailor" to see what happened. ("Hi sailor" is an old joke, prostitutes say it to Navy men.) All in good fun :yahoo:

Kruzenshtern is looking like Interceptor. I don't like her. I like Black Perl with her black sails.
