    How to find a Moderator...

How can I find a moderator, or others that are "The Powers That Be"? I would like to suggest an area where Newbies like me can ask stupid quesions like "how/what are the best was to type Cyrillic" etc., without being flamed as an idiot. I looked, but no answers.
I'll admit, the Cyrillic alphabet it rather hard for me, but I try. I have an emulator of a Russian keyboard from Yandex.ru . Is it any good, or is it a waste of time? I have lots of silly questions and don't want to bother the hard-core crew. Help me out long-time members.
    Thanks in advance,
    CC

It's OK to ask anywhere on the forum. That's what this forum is for. No need to bother a moderator for that.

Yes, and we are all equal opportunity flamers here so no need to take it personally!

Greetings CC, I am also new to this forum. You can instruct Windows XP to add keyboards in many languages including Russian. Click Start, then Control Panel, then Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, then Regional and Language Options and you will see a window pop up with that title. Then click the Language tab and under Text services and input languages click the Details button. Another window will pop up. Click the Add button and another window will pop up. Select Russian as the Input Language and click OK. You can then cycle between the English and Russian keyboards by pressing the left-Shift and Alt keys simultaneously. You will see EN for English and RU for Russian on the bar at the bottom of your screen near the right end.

To know which keys to press you can make a map by typing in a text document each row of keys in the order these are on your keyboard, first in English, then underneath that row switch to the RU keyboard and type the same keys in the same order. You can repeat this process for each row on your keyboard and you can also type these rows with the Caps Lock key on to see the difference in appearance. This may not be the best way to learn where the Russian letters are located but in time you will know without having to look at the map and your keyboard for each key you press.

I see keyboard stickers are for sale here: http://masterrussian.com/blstickers.shtml

There is an internet Russian keyboard here: http://www.russiankeyboard.com/ So you can type by pointing your mouse at a key, clicking, and when you are done then copy and paste the text where you want it.

Of course you can go all out and purchase a Russian English keyboard to plug into your pc. Here is one source I found: http://www.webideas.bigstep.com/categor ... IDs=121768

oh oh, my apologies. At one time I thought my name was unusual. Then another Ken Watts moved into Spokane, and not long afterword some of his friends were sending mail to him at my address. In Skype I also met a female named Kenneth Watts and she is located in Africa somewhere.

Thanks for the clues. Getting a Russian keyboard is in the "Yeah, right" catagory, and learning to type full scale Russian is right next to it. I have a hard enough time typing English... I did the cheat-sheet thingy but still peck & paw. Babel Fish with cut&paste will be happening for a long time to come.

There's a cool Russian program that can help you to learn touch-typing - "Solo on the Keybord". You can download the trial version from the official site: http://inter.ergosolo.ru/eng/

    Yet another NEWBIE question

I'd like to put an "avatar" (the pictures under your name) on, but seems disabled here. It's not really important, but a nice thing. I was going to use a fish(cod) or a lobster.

Why disabled? Not disabled. I have one, look! It is really nice. I like it.

Make sure that your avatar is not larger than 90x90 pixels and less than 6 kb, you should be able to upload it in your profile!
