Cutty Sark was destroyed in a fire.
The famous sailing ship, the tea clipper called after the Robert Burns' poem Tam O'Shanter was hardly damaged in the fire.

The police have no explanation, but suspect the fire happened not by accidant.

God's Fish and holly fries! I dreamt of going on the board of this clipper ship one day!

I was just listening to NPR, and the museum curator says that some of the original materials were saved because of having been removed prior to the fire. The ship has sustained major damage, but I'm hopeful that it can be restored.

It is so sad when such things happen!
They said the restoration works will cost much more than was demanded for renovating the old ship.
You wouldn't believe, but I find it difficult to keep my eyes dry when I think about the ship.
The same feeling I had when the Moscow manege had been burned.

Как печально, что что-то такое произошло! Было бы жаль, если это сделал поджигатель. Ну, что поделать? Ничего не существует навсегда.

Я надеюсь, что им удастся сделать ремонт.
