Any nation and any country maintain a universal proportion between deep and superficial.
The proportion is universal (everywhere, be that Russia, USA or Jamaica):

1% (deep) : 99% (superficial)

Hate? Guess it depends on who you talk to. I think most Americans are indifferent to Russia (and the rest of the world).

Or you only can notice the words "Why Americans hate Russians", but are not able to notice the question "Why Russians hate Americans"?

Scott, I think saying just "someone's remark is stupid" is not very clever either.

For most of the twentieth century the Russian government followed policies with the stated goal of eradicating capitalism. Americans, dwellers in the bastion of capitalism and for whom this economic platform is dear to our hearts, heard this and decided to hate Russians. Not counting the brief period in the 1930s when some of us actually did consider communism as a possible alternative. Even the shoe banging and warnings did not bury us. But basically, it is various kinds of propaganda on both sides that cloud people's better judgment.

a lot of countries dislike america, not just russia. i would'nt worry about it too much. the line i hear (and ive heard it from britts, russians, spanish and more) is that america thinks its so important and can just do what it wants etc

I just noticed, why is it that when the US supported the independence of Kosovo (against Russia's will), the world follows. But when it comes to South Ossetia, which Russia supports, the world won't recognise it. Quite unfair, I think.

But there are good Russians and good Americans. You just have to look for them because they're hiding.

Isn't Russia recognising the independence of SO and Abkhazia but not Kosovo exactly as hypocritical, except the other way around?

I'm a girl, and when I say relationships, it means friendships.

I am not interested in looking for a mate, and I do not find any attraction to a person of my own sex.
