Shootout at MasterRussian (or near enough)

Well folks there was a big news the other night in NW Portland where Master Russian has some kind of office. A gang shootout near Couch St.

I suspect that it was some kind of turf war between Master Russian and their rivals. Perhaps MR is trying to muscle in on the local coffee shop scene there. But you didn't hear that from me.

Well, anyway, I for one will be wearing my personal body armour when shopping at the local Powell's Books store for Russian grammar text books for the foreseeable future.

That has more to do with Google and its co-founder Sergei Brin rather than MR. According to official sources Google has attempted to enter the energy drink market in 2005 (official press release here) and it's rumoured that Portland's coffee scene is the next strategic step in that direction.

MR officially announces that it has no plans to enter Portland's coffee market at this time.

However, one of MR admins met a cute American girl at the Russian section of the Powel's bookstore that Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, she didn't seem to be much of a coffee drinker as she refused MA's offer to join him for a cup of coffee. However MA kept his cool and met two cute Russian girls later that day :wink:

...and a few hours later realized that these "girls" were actually Sergey Brin and Larry Page in drag, and suddenly felt very sick? :lol:
