Russian community in English in Chicago? Hmm, good luck, I do not think it exists. Why Russians would interact in English in US?

Because it is a language of this country. Or isn't it?

Hmmm, let me think. It is a language in this country. Ok. You can speak English to locals, right? So, what the hell you need to create Russian community here and keep on speaking English? Do you speak English to your Russian friends in US?

because it is a forum for English speaking people, out of respect to them I use English. In this forum of Russians in USA:
    http://ourprivate.net/
I ineract in Russian only. You can join there as well if you want, it is a nice forum.

    And in this:
    http://pratchett.org/forum
Russian as well, but it is not a forum in America.

Why don't you have Russian-speaking friends here? You did not find anyone around? I really got tired speaking English sometimes, and I need to talk Russian, otherwise it devastetes me a lot.

BTW, always wanted to visit Kansas, since my childhood, I was a fan of "Волшебник изумрудного города".

It was a joke - about friends.
Even with them sometimes it's not polite to speak Russian when other people around have no clue..
You can not isolate yourself from surroundings. Or it will become like Brighton area in NY. Very sad place, for my taste.
Idea is to blend in.. or to go back
Not trying to recreate Russia in the middle of other country. It will not work anyway.

Well, it works in Brighton, even if the result is not what you (and I) may like. Anyhow, it is a Russian Community. I speak Russian there, this is why it is created. If an american appeared in Russian company, I do not think that everyone should switch to Russian, unless he or she participates in conversation. (S)he knew where (s)he was going. Would you go to mexican party and demand everyone speak English, because you do not speak Spanish? Hell no. You better learn Spanish or do not feel offended if people around speak spanish. The same rule applies to any ethnic community. Just recently I was on Tartar Sabantuy in California, people spoke tartar, I can't speak tartar, but would I demand them speak Russian or English? Hell no, as that was the idea of them to join together, to speak their native language.

You know, pioner, I think you have trouble hearing what other people trying to say..
I was talking of beeing polite and switching to English in mixed crowd. You're talking of demanding people speak English or Russian if you do not understand.
Well, I don't know how to communicate with you, sorry. And I have a feeling it's not a language issue
