Okay, I have Lingvo version 10 and the word click isn't in there.

What I mean is, you see plenty of advertisements on the internet, how does one say "click here" and what are the different variations.

In spanish they use click aqu

To click (mouse) : Щелкнить
Click here (formal imperative): Щелкните сюда
Click here (informal imperative): Щелкни сюда

Жми сюда!

My firewall blocks all ads, so I may be not aware of other possible phrases.

У меня Lingvo 9 и там есть перевод слова "click" в "компьютерном" смысле. Но не в общем словаре "LingvoUniversal", а в "LingvoComputer":

2) выполнить щелчок мышью; отметить, "кликнуть"

Помню, пару лет назад, была новогодняя рекламная акция "Кликни Деда Мороза!" (can be translated both "Call Ded Moroz!" and "Click Ded Moroz!"; the original meaning of Russian verb "кликать" is "to call" or "to hail").

Right. Щелкните (to be more precise - щёлкните) is a plural imperative of щёлкнуть - to click (perfective aspect).

Кликнуть (кликать) in its "computer" sense is a slang word, Russified "click".

As for "Click here", N is right, "Жми сюда" is a popular variant, but it is not as widespread as "Click here" in English. In many cases other words are used depending on the context. If it's an advertisement it can be: Смотреть, Читать, Купить, Дальше, Далее, Здесь, Сюда, etc etc

yes, and the reason why I am doing this study is for etymological purposes.

my msn messenger in russian says здесь, not сюда.
