Racial Attacks & Racial Bias in Russia

just read the other day of the death of another foreign student from head injuries after being attacked by a gang of skinheads in St. Petersburg. (I believe he was from Congo), anywho-i just wanted to get an impression from Russian natives as to the current extent of nationalism & its influence on opinions about the foreigners living in Russia.

the same article goes on to mention something about how a large amount of students are now deciding to leave Russia sighting safety concerns and a lack of government attention to the reported incidents.

Who cares, there will probably be thousands of Russians killed in drunk fights between now and the next dead student from Congo. Does that answer your question?

From what I gathered on russian news, the problem is there, but it is compounded by the fact that the police takes very little action after this sort of crime happens. There are people killed every day by gangs, and the police is not overly concerned with any of them. It is not much of racial discrimination. I walked the streets of St-Petersburg at night, alone, and I never felt threatened by gangs.
