There's an interesting post here:
http://www.sinosplice.com/weblog/archiv ... and-shapes
about how the orthography of a language shapes the way we describe things.
The one I found interesting, and made me wonder about russian, was:
1)What shape do migrating ducks fly in?
English: a V-shape
Chinese: 人字形 (a “人 character” shape; “人” means “person”)
So, my question is, what do Russians say? An "Л" shape? That's all I could think of since the handwritten "л" looks like an upside down "v" ...
Also, (just if anyone knows) what about in greek? Since the lambda is an upside down v...
Just some things to think about
