    Privet!

Hi everyone my name is Larry and i've long wanted to speak russian. I don't know why but when I was at school years ago i had a russian speaking friend and i decided I wanted to learn. Well i've never attended any formal courses, just plodded along, picking up words here and there. Also i have a siberian friend on msn who has helped me. Trouble is with everything thats happened in my life, new partner,2 kids etc, i haven't had chance to learn properly. So i was amazed to find a russian english site pm here I am!

Thanks everyone, sorry for the delay but i lost the url to this site. Unfortunately i didn't understand any of your replies-i am very green and have never studied the language properly. If anyone can recommend books to learn from i would be grateful. I have no money for a language course and so i just pick things up as i go along.

    Good books for learning Russion

The Penguin Russian Course is, in my opininon, very good. Hard work though, so best to supplement it with easy readers, kid's books etc. I have also borrowed the Michael Thomas russian course ( CD's) from my local library... it's pretty effective and an interesting way to learn to speak any language. It's expensive to buy though.
