Peter Nalitch and his music. What do you think?
Hello, dear friends!
I heard about Peter Nalitch on the radio. It was a short notice which was pronounced by a DJ almost like a proverb, pretty fast. The DJ said that Peter Nalitch has won all the competitors and will perform a song on the Eurovision contest 2010 for Russia. “Who is Peter Nalitch? :dunno: I have never heard his songs before :search: ” and almost at once I forgot about him.
Some weeks after I learned that Peter Nalitch and his band became more or less known in Russia thanks to the internet. The band placed its songs for free on Youtube, Myspace, Yandex (the Russian search engine) and so on.
I was intrigued. And finally I found the song which will be performed at the Eurovision 2010. Its name is “Lost and forgotten”. It is a wonderful song! I don’t know why but while I was hearing it I felt that the song touched my soul.
They said it is better one time to see than many times to hear. :instruct:  Since I heard the song I have doubts regarding the statement. Though, he looks excellent as well.
So
the “Lost and forgotten” song is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P1FC...sh+div-1r-3-HM
(the lyric)
Would you believe,
Lord of Mercy
Would you be so good, Lord
I wanna love her now
And I wanna feel that now with all,
All of those kisses and sweet embraces
Here am I
Lost and forgotten
For this cruel cruel time
When I’m first time in love
Now that is
Now that is why I sing,
Lord of Mercy,
And I hope now that you hear me
Oh yeah
— What are you doing man?
— I am looking at her photos
What should I do with them?
— Drop them to the fire!
— Oh yes
Yes, I gonna burn them now
‘Cause I have to forget her now with all
All of those kisses and sweet embraces
Here am I
Lost and forgotten

the guy has a nice voice, I'd like to hear him sing in Russian. I understood very few of the lyrics except the chorus. That howling was...what was that?

:mosking:

Thanks for your opinion. :)
Honestly I have to say that when I heard the song the first time I thought: "Why do I understand less English words than usually?". :dunno: The pronunciation confused me a little. But I am not a native English speaker so I didn't pay to the fact my attention much.
Anyway I have to say I would want to listen to the song in Russian. I suspect that the song is more close to Russian spirit (I don't know how to express it exactly in English. I meant that the song looks Russian) than to English. It seems to me that it is a pure Russian music :-)

Удивительное дело, а мне например, именно эти "завывания" кажутся искренними. :) Сколько людей, столько мнений :) Я за разнообразие, хотя встречать единомышленников всегда приятно :)
Спасибо за ваше мнение, Roza :)

Well, if you go to his personal site you can make sure the lyrics were originally composed in English language, he also mentions it at times when being interviewed. He also stated there is no Russian version of the song at all.
Back to the topic. I personally agree with those above, who think songs should be sung in native languages and subtitles for lyrics would do just well. There is a tendency among eurovision fans(you can see it on official page or fan forums) the more and more people prefer to see national color in songs rather than understandable lyrics, let alone most people who can't estimate it fully due to lack of language skills and specific accents. Back in time it was much better when everyone sang in their native and we gradually have to go for it, too. IMO :flazhok:

It is his personal decision to write the song in English. But my opinion is it would be good to create its Russian version as well.

Probably it would be the best way, to use subtitles, but I wouldn't forbid to sing in English instead of native languages.
Thanks for your opinion.

Hey, ekaterinak;
what do think about making collaborative song/music? You could post some lyrics of your own here, and ask for people to contribute theirs. (I myself am not lyricist, but am musician. but I could try to make lyrics...)

Probably I will create some lyrics for that purpose
