What are the "classic" films and TV programs that Russian-speaking people watch over the New Year and Christmas holiday?

What about elsewhere in the world, have you got any classic Christmas and New Year Holiday programs that you always watch?

"Ирония судьбы или с легким паром" is the annual Cristmas movie on Russian TV.

The best New Year TV-show on Russian TV is "Оливье Шоу" (1st channel) imho. Here some fragments from this year's show:

I only got some bits of the interview with the queen... But it was very funny! Didn't recognise some of the people she called.


Her real speech is a Christmas tradition in England. Didn't watch it this year, but here it is. I agree with her view on the King James Bible..... and I DO admire her even though I am not a big monarchist.

Btw, I thought you had LOTS of programs that are repeated every year in Russia, that's why I asked. Sounds like it's not that many after all.

I like that video.... Russian folk costumes are soooo beautiful! The old folk traditions are probably what I find the most fascinating about Russia. I really like Russian folk music too - this way of jazzing it up a bit is really cool.
