    I'm learning to speak Russian and have been lurking for a while on this site...thanks to everyone who has answered questions...I've had many of the same as the others asking...anyways I have class three hours a day 9:30-12:30....I have a private teacher....it's awesome because I learn many things you wouldn't learn in a large school-type classroom....

    the most difficult thing for me is the cases....as you know there is none of that in english....

    great site! it's been helpful

    anyone from Los Angeles?

    With regards to the cases, English does have a little bit of that, but only in the personal pronouns:

    Nominative:
    I, you, he, she, we, you, they

    Accusative:
    me, you, him, her, us, you, them

    Hopefully this comparison will help you

    The cases aren't all that difficult to learn once you get into them. There are several other threads on this board already talking about the use of cases, so check them out if you need more info.

    Also, I highly recommend the Bucknell website for anything related to grammar.

    English totally does have cases...

    Nominative/Subjective
    Possesive/Genetive
    Objective/Accusative

    Almost all of the "changes" are in the pronouns though.

    heh I dunno....I just speak it....wish I was like that in Russian too....

    it's not like Russian though....much deeper usage of the cases....

    Instead of a deeper usage of the cases, i would say in russian the cases are more prominent and noticeable. Plus there are like alot more.

    English is analytical.
