I was wondering what are the most popular fonts people use in Russia for personal and business paperwork.

I would say that the most popular fonts people use in Russia for personal and business paperwork are exactly the same ones people here use -- Times and Arial.

По-моему this is unfortunate. Does anyone ever think about this -- Times was *designed* as a newspaper font, dark letters to soak ink into the paper, squished horizontally to get more letters per linear inch. Arial was a knock off of Helvetica, or some such font. And it is now equally condemned.

I hate them both and avoid them whenever I can. Unfortunately, if I sent you a letter in Russian written using Garamond, Centaur, Baskerville, Didot, Lazursky, Plantin, Journal, or even Caslon for gosh sakes, your PC would more likely than not find them all missing and substitute Times.

Such is the life of a typographer on the internet.
