Well lets just hope it's really true........and opens a few doors for a retired Buckaroo like me!
DDT is retired :o ???? Have you stopped rounding up those lil doggies?
Does anyone actually use the language exchange sites here? I'm signing up for it now, but I'm a little nervous about my level. I'm obviously a beginner, and haven't gotten far with grammar and vocab. I'm doing a pen pal...hmmm....There's no age requirement, right?
About the only thing I use is Skype. I've also met a couple of people through the "Pen Pals" part of this forum, which helps. I wouldn't worry about your proficiency - as the article says be honest with your level and people will understand.

Also, from what I've gathered, Russians are easily impressed. 8)
Skype sort of freaks me out. I'm uncomfortable using it.
It's not so bad. If you put in your profile that you want to work on your Russian (or any language for that matter) people will add you. For the most part, except for a couple of freaky people that have added me to their list, everybody on Skype is pretty friendly and outgoing. I'm not much of a conversationalist when it comes to people I don't know, but i've had conversations on skype that lasted hours.
And I have to agree with BlackMage - even though my Russian is still at an elementary level when it comes to speaking, most Russians I talk to always compliment me and they usually get really excited :)

Yeh, I remember when I spoke to a Russian girl at univeristy she was like "Без акцента" which was obviously a lie.Quote:

Career as what? :?: Don't you miss the cowboying? What made you change? All these questions! It wasn't "Brokeback Mountain" was it? :?
I had not been in Australia in 18 years! Yes, I miss the Buckaroo lifestyle a lot. I have given myself One year to get a new life going in Australia........if it doesn't work out I will probably return to Nevada or Oregon as a buckaroo until I drop dead like "Curly" did in that movie "City Slickers"
:o I've only been in America 18 years...Quote:

Anyway to answer Klinky ol' boy's question....not really sure that I should......here goes:
I am actually beginning the testing for an Australian Federal law enforcement job that has agencies in 25 countries. I have also applied to the RAAF as an officer and also the Northern Territory pigs……oops I mean police hoping for a mounted position in the outback. But I am open to being a GOD OF ROCK like Jimmy Page was too!..................I mean riding motorcycles in hotel elevators could be a kick also!!
Its getting harder and harder to keep track of all the little DDT's these days.Quote:
