Mexican is the next best thing to Russian......don't ask me how I know that.

But... it's weird. My Siberian aquaintance says they have never had mexican....maybe because they have never wanted to but more I think because it is unavailable. But, then again, why would it be so difficult. Buy the fixins and cook it up

Sad. There is macdonalds in russia, ..... mexican is better for you.

Is there Spanish food in Russia?
It is Winter and Very Cold.

I saw one (1) mexican restaurant in St. Petersburg. There might have been more hiding somewhere, but it doesn't surprise me that it is unknown to most Russians... heck, even in western Europe only recently can you get good mexican food...

In Moscow Metro, in the "Metro-Express" (network of little fast-food booths) there's a meal they call "Burrito".
Although, I have a very strong suspicion, what a *real* mexican burritos differ much from it.
But, of course, if you want to eat something genuine, you just can go to Mexican restaurant.

I have a suspicion that buritos sold in mexican restourants in USA are different from "real" mexican ones from mexica. So I was told. And americans created breakfast burito, which is total nonsense from mexican point of view.

Burritos are pretty similar to Mexican ones, but things like tacos, enchiladas, and chimichangas are not the same (although similar) Tacos there are all on corn tortillas, but not hard ones like here, or flour soft, it's kind of a mix of the two...

It sounds like more mexican food can be found in Russia than in western Europe. But things probably changed by now, because many years ago in Europe, for example, mexican cuisine was hard to find - and you'd be hard-pressed to find any restaurants that served the stuff . . . but I remember there were a few silly versions like 'Taco Hell' and 'Chi-Chi's' in London where Guacamole dip was called 'green sauce', and the salsa was watered down. I recall receiving some surprised looks when asking for hot-sauce.

Here and now, I'm surrounding by Mexican eateries everywhere. Up to my neck in it, that is. I like the food - but I wouldn't miss it very much when travelling abroad, especially Russia. I'll just find the ingredients and prepare it to satisfy any cravings.

I hear there's a Mexican restaurant in Siberia - in the city of Barnaul. Anyone been there?
If only you could see . . . what I have seen, with your eyes.

I remember seeing TacoBell in Warsaw in 1997. Our american friend, traveling with us was extremely happy! At that time there was nothing like it in St.Pete

BTW in Taco Bell none is being cooked, everything is premade. Their guacomole and refrided beans come in as a dry powder, they just mix it with water.

At mcdonals, their burgers come premade. All they do is steam the burgers to cook them...or thats what i heard at least. I have never worked at a mcdonals, although i puked in one once.

I never worked at McDonald's, but I think they fry burgers there, it is faster then steam it. Out of all fast food restourants I would recommend only In-And-Out, they provide better stuff then anyone else, but that chain is spreaded in California in general, not much in all US.
