    1. A carnival held in some countries on Shrove Tuesday (the last day before Lent) but especially in New Orleans (synonyms: Fat Tuesday).

    2. The last day before Lent (synonyms: pancake day, Shrove Tuesday).



    Lent is the period of 40 weekdays (from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday) before Easter, during which some Christians give up something that they enjoy.

    I think for most people Mardi Gras is just the giant street festival/carnival/booze-fest that takes (or took) place in New Orleans. A giant party basically, complete with beer, beads, and breasts...

    Ок понятно. Я просто так думал, потому что когда-то в детстве я был в футболке Mardi Gras, и некоторые пацаны спросили у меня, гей ли я. Получилось, что они только обратились к футболке.
