setup file is less than 2 MB .. interface is like Gmail but with features like ICQ... its sorta cool ... tho using the features become a bit difficult as i am not very good at Russian. Also my windows is not a russian version so most of the letters appears junk maybe because of different encoding.

i was just wondering whether they have mail.ru agent (messenger) in English language? Would be amazing !!

Interesting comment. Just thinking why you want to use a Russian email service when you don't know the language. Is that really what it's come to now...

I assume your reasons for wanting to use Mail.ru has to do with privacy and not using a service that the NSA and similar can't read like an open book. As we discussed elsewhere in this forum, you should probably look at I2P and similar technologies, although staying away from the likes of Gmail and Hotmail is probably a good start. They can still intercept your message en route though, unless it's encrypted - don't forget that.

Also it's not unfeasible that while the NSA can't access Mail.ru the Russian security services might. Don't know if that concerns you or not.
We don't know, because there hasn't been any whistleblowers. I'd like to live under the illusion that they've got better things to do that save and scan everyone's emails, and that they actually respect privacy, but what do I know...

There are also free email services in smaller politically low-profile countries that you could look for.
