    Learning russian

Hey everybody! I am in a despirate situation. I have to go to russian next week to help my mom translate so she can adopt 2 girls... but the problem is, my russian is so basic its sad! I speak it every day with friends, but they do more talking and less teaching than i would like. If anyone can help me out for a bit, i would be greatful! (and if you want help with another language, i can help that!) I speak italian, portuguese, spanish, and some french.

My msn is jphoops4life@netscape.net for anyone who is interested.

Well, as far as I know, if they're that far along in the adoption process, there should be an interpreter, at least in the important and legal parts.
Вот это да, я так люблю себя. И сегодня я люблю себя, ещё больше чем вчера, а завтра я буду любить себя to ещё больше чем сегодня. Тем что происходит,я вполне доволен!

TO be honest, talking to someone on MSN is not a good way to learn Russian. You need a proper course. I suggest getting some self-study books. Also if you are going to Russia so soon, there's not much you can learn in that space of time.

You can survive in Russia without Russian, even if people don't speak English you can still get by. Also in Moscow a lot of staff in caf

no no no... i have been studying for a bit. its not like i just said "im going to russia in a week, i better study!" I have been learning it every day with friends at school so i know the basics, i just need someone to talk with to just improve it day by day.

And survive, yes. You can survive without air for a bit of time too. But in the end, it would just be better to learn russian right? I mean, i will have 2 girls who speak russian in my house constantly, and my friends speak it all the time... so either way, i want to be proficient!

Well, his first task is to be able to speak, read and understand Russian as he is going to Moscow in a week. Writing is not his first priority. Of course, then he'll soon have to write long posts here on the board in Russian.

I think you can survive in Russia without speaking Russian about 100,000 times longer than you can without air. Well, define air. You mean the oxygen hydrogen argon methane mix we breath? or just oxygen? I mean you could live pretty much indefinitely without carbon dioxide...

Sooo I guess my point is, better comparisons please.

And u can still experience Russia without speaking Russian. You can still fly without being a pilot (good comparison).

Well, actually you are missing the most important element: Nitrogen. You'd be pretty much screwed without that, and Carbon Dioxide is alot more important than like methance or hydrogen (hydrogen???)

Anyway, not to steal your thunder...

Well, I wasn't really ranking them in order of importance, but if you'd like me to make a pie chart I can. Then maybe later we can eat it.

And sure, nitrogen, whatever. You better give me my thunder back though, I like storms.
