Thread: Laser Eye Treatment

Hi

I have just undergone Laser Eye Treatment to correct my vision and I am delighted to say that it has worked wonderfully well. I underwent this surgery in Bristol in England.

I have vague memories from many years ago, probably 20 years at least, that this form of treatment was originally pioneered in Russia.

I would like to know a little more about the history of this type of treatment particularily if it coincided with my intersest in all things Russian.

Can anybody confirm or refute my memories please?

Look for a name " академик С. Н. Фёдоров" - he was the guy.

i am 26 and i was 8 degrees myopic and i had a lazer surgery in 2002 it is now about 0,75 myopic and thats wonderful result for me. and now the tech is better and i believe you gonna get better results now.

Yes, this is a great operation and Fyodorov is a great doctor ... as he is an asshole - in case of a regression (and it always happens in a few years time) you're truly f***d because they don't cure you, they "polish your eyes with a file" to use the Russian catchphrase and there's a limit to how far you can go

He is no longer a doctor or an asshole. He died in an aviation accident (helicopter crash).
