    Kvas

Is there such a thing as non-alcoholic kvas?

And what the heck is kvas made of anyway. Carbonated rye?

How would I say "I would like a bottle of kvas, please. How much?"

Finally, what's the average price range of a liter bottle of kvas in American dollars...

    wow i'm obsessive.

Какая разница, умереть богатым или бедным?

Какой толк от богатства если ты не счастлив.

You can buy kvas at the yellow tanks (kind of a small tankard on a trailor, the tank is yellow and has КВАС printed in large letters on the side) parked throughout the city. You can buy it by the cup or bring your own empty bottle and pay by the liter. The tanks have fresh квас which my friends say is better than the bottled stuff in the stores.
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

I think we should explain to our friends here why it is sometimes enough to just say "сколько", but sometimes you need to add "стоит". Friendy?

They are absolutely right. Kvas in bottles has much carbon dioxide to store product for long time. Real kvas has no carbon dioxide. And not all kvas in bottles is naturally kvas. There are квас and квасной напиток. Both have large "kvas" signature but under it with small letters can be written квасной напиток. It is not a fake but not real kvas only imitation. I know only one botteled real kvas mark in Moscow. It is Очаково.

I've only tasted the bottled stuff which was so bad I haven't had the desire to ever taste квас again. But I guess I should try the fresh stuff......

The bottled stuff here is definatly non-alcoholic. I assume its the "fake stuff", but I still kind of like it. I just let it go flat first before I drink it.

Well, this is my guess... is it because сколько means how much as well as how many, so sometimes you have to be more clear as to what you are asking?
