Thread: halogen light bulbs

strange question here, but ill give it a shot.
so my light requires a halogen light bulb and i cant find any in the local store (they have all sorts of other weird light bulbs apart from the one i want)

so, to you russians, in what shops might i find one of these bad boys?

They are called "лампы дневного света" in Russian. I suppose large electric goods stores should carry them. Maybe "Хозтовары"/hardware stores or larger department stores as well. But these lamps come in several types and sizes, so you better find out which one you want.

Edit: Wait. The picture in your post looks like a fluorescent tube ("лампа дневного света" in Russian) , yet you say it is a halogen bulb (галогенная/галогеновая лампа). So what is it?

i think it's a good question!
You might find a halogen light bulb or "галогенная лампа" in "хозяйственный магазин" (also "хозяйственный" or "хозтовары") or in the "хозяйственный отдел" of a local store. i may be mistaken but you might also find (or buy ) it via internet store.

The lamps you seek could be found in almost every "хозяйственный магазин", at least where I live. The lamps are bright but emit huge amount of heat and as I noticed have a very short lifespan and are not cheap if we're talking about genuine ones. The Chinese fakes are 10 times cheaper but may burn out literally in 5 minutes.

why they decided to fit this light in my room, all the others have normal light bulbs and i get this. not liking the sound of them being expensive either!!
@translationsmru: the pic i attached is still classed as a halogen bulb, but they can look like regular ones too.

Ah I see! I have never seen two-ended halogen lamps before. Well, live and learn.

May be in "Автозапчасти" - spare parts for cars.

i found the b%stards in a special store called elektomontazh (it took over an hour and a half to get there and get the bulbs) for 110py each. now im looking for a place to buy tools, or more specifically, a spanner!
