    Lie Detectors Coming to Domodedovo

I saw this in the news this morning. It would be really funny if it weren't so stupid. This was by far the best line in the article: "If a person fails, he is accompanied by a guard to a cubicle where he is asked questions in a more intense atmosphere," Mr Kornilov said. Break out the дубинки!

Interesting. I read an article talking about these types of machines a few months ago, but this is the first place where i've seen it implemented. I wonder what the accuracy of the device actually is - or how they even test it effectively for that matter.

LOL, that's right up there with "the beatings will continue until morale improves."

I think you're lying to the authorities! To the cubicle for more intense questioning!

Yeah, that used to be the main one I think, but I believe Domododevo has picked up some traffic in the past few years. I did a quick googlization and it seems as though domestic air travel and international BA and Swissair use it.

You're right that Domodedovo has picked up some traffic in the past few years. They seem to have made a renovation a few years ago, which allowed them to invite British Airways and other large international airlines. But Lufthansa still uses Sheremetyevo. To be honest, I don't like Sheremetyevo. It's so busy in summer! The airport was built in the USSR and I don't think that they thought then there would ever be many 'Soviet' people willing to go abroad. I mean to say, that very few could go abroad in the SU, so the Soviets didn't need a massive airport.
Sheremetyevo ought to get a renovation, otherwise it will remain one of the worst airports I've ever seen. Though it's not so bad in winter...

I agree! The Sheremetyevo has clumsy inner space!

Yeah, I heard somewhere that it was made to look much better and had a more confortable environment, so more people were, naturally, interested in going there. The only one I've been to is Pulkovo, which I wasn't fond of: arrived to wait in a long line to do a visa process I'd never been through before, then proceeded to go to some crappy, busted old bus and load my luggage in rain. On the departure, I arrived at like 2 am; then had to sit for 2 hours in an empty, closed down airport hall. On the other hand, I suppose I did get to where I was going in one piece, so that's something to be happy about! And Frankfurt was a nicer -- but it was still an airport and it was on the euro which REALLY sucked.

I've flown via Frankfurt as well! It's incredibly huge, isn't it? I agree that it's nicer than Sheremetyevo. Another airport that I was at and that I didn't like is Toronto Pearson International Airport. When I arrived in Toronto, I had to wait for about 30 minutes (maybe, even more) to do a visa process. On the departure, I had to stand in a very long queue. Standing in the queue was nothing compared to the fact that everyone in that queue was standing for different flights.

Yet Domodedovo has a lot of problems too now.
