What a horror! I did not even know that there was a McDonald's in Калифории! Maybe the tons of lard used in MacDonad's food was a a source of spontaneous combustion!!!! Or worse, a 900 lb. customer blew up!!!!Quote:

That means you are indirectly responsible for the explosion. Nice one DDT :roll:
As if the bad food and heart attacks weren't enough reason to avoid McDonalds... I hope this doesn't affect my study abroad program in Russia this summer =(
Why are you watching Boston news KV?
<turning on channel 7>
There has been a number of small explosions like this in St. Petersburg. One was last weekend in a supermarket. It's thought to be mafia/organised crime related. The Militsia, are using their favourite word 'hooligasnism' as usual.
No one died, it's not a big deal, and it's not going to affect anyones travel plans, especially those months and months away.
:lol: no, I read the article in a Norwegian newspaper and since the fewest of us read Norwegian, I did a search on google for the news story... and ended up with the aforementioned article :)Quote:

Quote:

There was a boom about McDonalds in 1990 when the first one had been opened in Moscow. There were queues which people had to wait for hours to get there. It was a rather expensive "restaurant" as it had been called. The price of the Bic Mac was 3.50 soviet roubles. (a plane ticket to Sochi was 30 roubles).
People had been going there "to feel the taste of the West". It was interesting then because only selected few who had been lucky enough to visit some capitalist country were familiar with it.
Now it's just another eatery (and not among the better ones).
As far as I am concerned, I think that the term "junk food" fits perfectly for McDonalds.
