I live just up the road from the main shopping area. But there are shops pretty much everywhere.
The main shopping road is probably Oxford Street. Then the area around Oxford Circus, Regent's Street, Bond Street are more expensive shops. Also there is the Strand, there are lots of shops there.
It's best to just buy a guide before or after you go. You can easily find a Russian guide books being sold in the centre of town.

There are lots of Russians, in the centre of London. I always hear Russia being spoken. Also there are lots of builders and stuff from the Baltics and Ukraine and that and Russian is a common language they communicate in.
And yes most Russians here are wealthy. You'll see Russian guides less often. But still, there is one big guide range you see around a lot and it has a Russian version.
