    Tolerable receiving conditions

I think the word you want is "reception".

It refers to how well the mobile phone (handset) connects to the mobile network.

If you stand in the middle of the forest in Siberia = "no reception".

You can also say "mobile coverage", referring to the area where signals ARE available.

Sketchy reception=an area where you may or may not get coverage. It varies.
Poor mobile coverage=the mobile phone gets little or no connection.

Remember, use "mobile" for British, Australian and NZ usage. North America uses the word "cellular".

In the USA we would understand ’cellular' but more natural would be 'cell' or 'cell phone' depending on context.

    Let's give some examples:

In my neighbourhood we have very bad mobile reception. There is no mast for three miles. The coverage is simply apalling! It's almost impossible to get by with no mobile reception. I wonder if I'll get better coverage if I switch to Vodaphone?

    Many thanks!

Only I could need this in non-English speaking countries, so for now will hardly remember regional peculiarities!

The signal here is bad. Or, I have no signal/There's no signal.
