    Common English Mistakes ( Для Русские )

    First of all, It's more for beginers!! ( Since i know many of my Russian brothers and sisters,here and elsewhere speaking English like their second native! )

    So lets start!

    1-If I will go...

    "Everyone" knows that after If, we can’t have the future tense, right??! Wrong!
    So No "will" after "If"!

    Correct --> If I go to MR more, i won't make simple mistakes like this anymore!!

    2-I want that you talk to me!

    This is an issue of direct translation in Russian. it is "я хочу чтобы ты…" = (I want that you...) + 3 rd form of verb.
    Saying "I want you…" +  "to do anything" automatically sounds like you’re attracted to the person!! (even if the rest of the sentence is: … to take out the trash!). So for not making such misunderstanding, you will add "that"!! But, in English it is wrong!

    I know it sounds hard at first)) but try to say the correct one.
    So remember ‘I want’ is followed by the object right after without that.
    Correct --> I want you to talk to me!

    3-We with my friends…

    Again direct translation issue!

    Correct --> My friends and I are going to California this weekend!! (Indeed)

    Ok, i am not trying to make this post so large ( to make you frightened, to click on "×" right after you see it) so i will write more in the next post!

    4-I like to listen __ music.

    As there's no preposition after the verb "listen" in Russian. But in English, there is.

    Correct --> I like to listen + to music.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    5-We very want to stay on MR 24/7!
    Correct --> We really want to stay on MR 24/7!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    6- I feel myself tired after a long day of work.

    As In Russian, there's the reflexive pronoun after the verb "feel". so it's direct translation problem once again.

    Correct --> I feel tired after a long day of work.

    And in Russian, there is no preposition in using ждать/подождать + accusative object, but in English there is a preposition: 'We are waiting for ..." dative object.

    Is this in line with what you are doing in this thread?

    Absolutely. Thanks
    So yes, it can be number 7! A native Russian speaker, 'may' make such mistake in the beginning of learning English. So he/she can say it by mistake --> saying wait without preposition

    7- After Wait you should use "For" as the preposition.
    I am waiting for you/taxi/etc ...

    Thank you for the TOPIC !
    It is wonderful a syou understand English is a language of set structures.
    For example.....the verb..... like...so much popular with bloody beginners is used in affirmative structures...which is wrong as the verb..to like is used preferably in an interogative and negative structure. What do you like about the whole thins? I don't like the way he addresses hius pals.
